Creating a New File

The Unified Library lets you start building new learning materials without leaving your library. From the Create New button, you can choose the type of file you want to create and jump straight into the relevant builder — all in just a few steps.

Before You Begin

  1. Log in to BeED using your account credentials.
  2. Make sure your active role is set to Educator.
  3. Navigate to the Unified Library from the main BeED menu.

The Create New Button

The Create New button is the green (+) Plus button located at the bottom right of the content area. It is available at all times while you are in the Library, regardless of which section you are currently viewing.

Clicking it opens the Create New popup, which lists all available file types you can create.


File Types Available

The Create New popup displays a scrollable list of file types, each with its own icon and name.

How to Create a New File from the Account Library

  1. Open the Unified Library from the main BeED menu.
  2. Click the green (+) Plus button at the bottom right of the content area.
  3. The Create New popup opens.
  4. Hover over a file type to highlight it in grey.
  5. Click the file type you want to create.
  6. The relevant file builder opens in a new browser tab.
  7. Your Library remains open in the background tab.

To close the popup without creating a file, click the X button in the top right corner of the popup.


Creating Files in My Library

The Create New button is also available in My Library. The popup works the same way with one difference — you can also create a Folder to organise your files.

You cannot create a Folder inside another Folder. If you are already inside a folder, the Create New popup shows Experio only — the Folder option does not appear.

How to Create a New Folder in My Library

  1. Open My Library from the Left Frame sidebar.
  2. Click the green (+) Plus button at the bottom right of the content area.
  3. The Create New popup opens showing Folder and Experio.
  4. Click Folder.
  5. A folder name popup appears in the centre of the screen.
  6. Type a name for your folder. The field accepts up to 100 characters.
  7. Click Save to create the folder.
  8. The new folder appears in your My Library content area.

To close the popup without creating a folder, click the X button in the top right corner.


Based on the steps above, here's a quick summary:

  1. Click the green (+) Plus button at the bottom right of the content area.
  2. Select the file type you want to create from the popup.
  3. The file builder opens in a new browser tab.
  4. In My Library, you can also create a Folder from the same popup.

Your new file is ready to build — get creating!


Important Notes / Tips

  • The (+) Plus button is available at all times in the Library — you do not need to navigate to a specific section to create a new file.
  • File builders open in a new browser tab — your Library stays open in the background so you can return to it easily.
  • Folders can only be created at the root level of My Library. You cannot create a folder inside an existing folder.
  • Inside a folder, the Create New popup shows Experio only — the Folder option is not available.
  • The file types available in the popup may vary depending on your school's configuration.
