Understanding Hub Status Labels

Every Hub in BeED displays a status label that tells you β€” and your team β€” the current state of that Hub at a glance. Understanding what each status means helps you manage your Hubs confidently and avoid unexpected disruptions to Learner access.

The Four Hub Statuses

🟒 Active

The Hub is live and running. All Experio within the Hub are being delivered to Learner devices according to their individual schedules.

This status appears when:

  • No duration has been set (Hub runs indefinitely from the moment it's created), or
  • A duration is set and the current date falls within the Start and End date.

🟑 Scheduled

The Hub has been created with a future start date that has not yet been reached. Experio will not be delivered to Learners until the start date arrives.

This status appears when:

  • Duration is enabled and the Start Date is in the future.

Learners will not see a Scheduled Hub in their Hub list until it becomes Active.

🟠 Paused

The Hub has been manually paused by an Educator or Admin. All Experio are temporarily removed from Learner devices. No new submissions can be made while the Hub is paused.

This status appears when:

  • An Educator or Admin clicks Pause Hub on an Active Hub.

A paused Hub can be resumed at any time. See Pausing and Resuming a Hub for the full guide.

⬛ Ended

The Hub is no longer active. Experio have been removed from all Learner devices. This status is permanent β€” a Hub cannot be moved back to Active once it has ended.

This status appears when:

  • Duration is enabled and the End Date has passed, or
  • The Hub was manually stopped in the previous Hub version (now reflected as Ended in the new Hub).

An Ended Hub's data β€” Rooms, Learners, Experio, and progress records β€” is still visible to the Educator for reference. Nothing is deleted.

How Status is Determined

Hub status is driven by a combination of two factors β€” the Duration toggle and the Hub's Start/End dates. The table below shows all possible combinations:

Duration ToggleStart Date β€” End DateHub ActionStatus Label
Offβ€”StartedActive
OnCurrent date within rangeStartedActive
OnCurrent date β€” Future dateStartedActive
OnFuture date β€” Future dateStartedScheduled
Offβ€”StoppedEnded
OnCurrent date within rangeStoppedEnded
OnCurrent date β€” Future dateStoppedEnded
OnFuture date β€” Future dateStoppedEnded

"Stopped" refers to a Hub that has been manually paused and then its end date has passed, or was stopped in the previous Hub version.

Important Notes / Tips

  • Learners only see Active Hubs. Scheduled, Paused, and Ended Hubs are hidden from the Learner Hub list entirely.
  • Status changes based on date are automatic. BeED runs a batch process that checks Hub Start and End dates and updates statuses accordingly β€” you do not need to manually activate a Scheduled Hub.
  • For Infinite Hubs (no end date set), the system internally sets the end date to 31 December 2099 to keep the Hub permanently Active.
  • The Paused status can only be set manually β€” it will never be applied automatically by the system.
  • Ended is a terminal state. Once a Hub ends, it cannot be reactivated. You can duplicate the Hub to start a fresh copy. See Managing Your Hub List for how to duplicate.
