Understanding the New Password Requirement for Standalone Login

šŸ” Understanding the New Password Requirement for Standalone Login

As part of our ongoing efforts to ensure a secure and smooth experience for all users, the LMS now includes a password update requirement for those using standalone login. This article explains the purpose of the change, what users can expect, and how to navigate the new password flows, whether you're a student, teacher, or school administrator.

šŸŽÆ Why This Update Matters

Passwords play a critical role in protecting your personal information and access to learning resources. To enhance security across the platform, all users are now required to update their passwords when prompted. This ensures that everyone, especially younger learners, has a strong and safe login experience.

🌐 For Web Users

When logging into the LMS via a web browser, users may see a pop-up message prompting them to update their password. Here’s what to expect:

  • If you are using valid login credentials, a message will appear:
ā€œTo enhance security, please update your password.ā€
You will then be redirected to a password update page.

  • If you select ā€œChange Nowā€ you must complete the password change before accessing your dashboard.

  • If you select ā€œRemind Me Laterā€ you may skip the update temporarily, but the prompt will reappear the next time you log in. (The prompt will reappear up to 5 times, each time you log in.)

  • If you've forgotten your password, selecting ā€œForgot Passwordā€ will allow you to reset it using a verification code sent to your registered email.

  • New users who sign up through the ā€œSign up for freeā€ option will go through the password setup process during registration.

  • For students under 18, the system provides a simplified, age-appropriate registration process that requires a parent’s email to complete registration.

    • The password confirmation email will be sent to the parent’s email address.

šŸ“± For Mobile App Users (BeEDucation)

For those accessing the LMS through the mobile app:

  • When logging in with existing credentials, the same password update message will appear.

  • If you're already logged in, opening the app will immediately display the prompt to update your password before continuing. (The prompt will reappear up to 5 times, each time you log in.)

This ensures that both new and existing users are regularly reminded to maintain strong credentials.

šŸ‘©ā€šŸ« What Teachers and Students Should Know

  • Teachers are encouraged to guide students through the password update process, especially younger learners who may need assistance.

  • Students should always choose a strong password they can remember and avoid sharing it with others.

  • These changes help create a safer and more consistent experience for all users of the LMS.
